Course Description: The central focuses of this course are about pedagogy skills, materials, activities for teaching music in instrumental settings. Participants will relate the activities to HCPSIII Music Standards, and 2014 NCCAS Standards.

Professional development course :

  • January 18, 8:30-4:30 pm - HMEA
  • January 19, 8:30-4:30 pm -HMEA
  • March 28, 1:00-4:00 pm
  • September 5, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

In between January 19 and November 13, the instructor will communicate with participants via Discussion Board and emails three times, to discuss the progress of completing the portfolio.

  • First check: April 1, 2020
  • Second check: Sept 1, 2020
  • Third check: Oct 31, 2020 

Teachers must attend all sessions and complete a quality Learning Portfolio that consists of exemplary rubrics that assess students’ progress, to qualify for the three (3) PD credits offered.

 

Portfolio deadline: November 13, 2020.

 

Registration for this course will be on a first-come, first-served basis (limited space).  Since this course ends after the start of the next semester, participants will not be able to use credits from this course until the following semester.
